Behavioral Health: Child & Adolescent

Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Services

Children of all ages and from every socioeconomic background face many challenges today. There are stressors that exist in their homes, schools, and their communities. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (CAPS) Program at CareWell Health can help.

At CareWell Health Medical Center, children and adolescents are treated by a multi-disciplinary staff consisting of child and adolescent psychiatrists, licensed psychotherapists, and registered nurses, who provide consistent compassionate care. The program offers outpatient counseling and psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and families experiencing a variety of emotional and behavioral health stressors, including but not limited to depression and mood disorders, anxiety, inattentiveness, hyperactivity, problems in school, psychosis, co-occurring substance abuse and other conditions. We also offer in person and telehealth appointments. These services include:

  • Individualized Recovery Planning
  • Psychosocial Assessments
  • Outpatient Therapy/Counseling (i.e. Individual, Group, and Family)
  • Psychiatric Evaluations
  • Ongoing Medication Monitoring
  • Nursing Health and Wellness Assessments
  • Case Management and referrals as needed

Positive change is most often initiated and accomplished through active family involvement, which is why the CAPS Program encourages parents, legal guardians, and other family members to be actively involved and participate in the treatment of each child and adolescent. All children and families are empowered to become aware of their needs and how to address each of these needs and preferences. Through ongoing counseling and as needed medication monitoring, each child and family collaborate with his/her treating psychiatric physician and therapist in addressing their individualized needs to achieve emotional wellness and recovery.

The CAPS Program also provides the community with ongoing education and training such as workshops on parenting skills, emotional wellness, de-escalation techniques, and career days.
